First weekend dates of the Fall Red Snapper season have been great! Every weekend in the months of Sept, Oct, and Nov are OPEN to Red Snapper! Book your trip while dates are still available.

Last weekend and through Wednesday conditions were unfaborable for fishing. Rough seas and winds drove through NW Florida and kept us tied to the dock. However, the few charters that were able to reschedule for later in the week had great success. Kings treated my clients on 5/2 to a six hour charter full of screaming drags, resulting in new cooler prurchases dockside to transport fresh fish back home to thier family. On Friday, 5/3, all of my charters that wanted to have the opportuinty to catch a shark, had multiple sharks caught while on the water. And earlier this week Red snapper season dates were released by the state: June 1- July 31 and Friday-Sunday for Sept-Nov

This spring fishing has started off to a good start. Water temperatures range from the high 50s to the low 70s depending on the weather week to week. Once water temperatures stabilize the bite should be more consistent. Spanish mackerel have been found inshore and outside of the pass; easily targeted on a four hour trip trolling and using live bait, incoming tides seem to be producing greater numbers of Spanish mackerel. Offshore, triggerfish have been very active. Several keeper size triggerfish have been caught. The Vermilion snapper bite has began to become very consistent, and their table fair is unmatched; limiting out has been a common trend on 6-8hr charters. Several Gag grouper have been caught and safely released. The Gulf is coming alive and this season is shaping up to be one for the books.

The Gulf is heating up with water temps in the low 70’s and the fish are loving it! This week the snaper bite was hot and we were fortunate enough to harvest a 70.3lb cobia and safely release a beautiful Gag grouper!
