The 2026 season dates are still undecided as several pieces of legislation move through the state house. A propsoal to protect breeding females from catch and release in April and May has been acted on by the representatives delaying the catch and release season until mid-May. Most likely the season will open for rockfishing May 16th and run until July 31st. The season will be closed in August to protect rockfishing from catch and release mortality during the period of warmest water temps in season. September until December will be the late summer/fall season. When the season is open, the minimum size for striped bass is 19 inches and the maximum size for striped bass is 24 inches. One fish per person is the creel limit.

******New Regulations pertaining to Striped Bass for 2024****** The 2024 Maryland striped bass (Rockfish) season kicks off on May 16th this year. During summer season the Rockfish size and limit will be 19" to 24" and each person can keep (1) one rockfish. Rockfish Season is closed July 16, 2024 - July 31, 2024.
