Bad weather, good fishing
Marzo 29, 2026
Today we started the day with very cloudy skies, some rain, and a southeasterly wind with gusts of up to 30 knots. Because of this, we had to fish in the channels and along the coast with plenty of trees, to be sheltered from the wind. We drift-fished from the bank where the wind was coming from. We crossed the channel and, upon reaching the opposite bank, repeated the process. We fished with floating and mid-water lines. We used size 10 hooks and eels and small live fish called shad as bait. Several catfish took the eel bait very well. Using small fish as bait, we managed to land two golden dorado and a tararira (similar to a wolffish). Once the fishing day was over, with clouds on the horizon and the rain replaced by sunshine, we began our return to port, happy to have enjoyed a beautiful day of fishing. Until next time! The golden dorado keep eating
Marzo 27, 2026
We started the day with a gentle north-northeast wind. The tide was rising throughout the entire trip. Today we chose to fish an area of sandbanks bordering a deep channel. We used both floating and mid-water lines. Almost all the bites came on the floating lines baited with live shad. After several missed strikes, we managed to land two nice golden dorado. On the mid-water line, we only had one very violent strike that ended up breaking the line. This line was baited with a medium-sized yellow catfish. We also used eels as bait. On this line, only small fish bit, which couldn't reach the tandem hooks. If you would like to know more about fishing on the Río de la Plata—the widest river in the world—please feel free to contact me. I will reply as soon as possible. Thank you! Captain Mauricio

Season of big fish!!!
Marzo 12, 2026
Today we started the day with a gentle east-northeast wind. We sailed along the Río de la Plata (the widest river in the world) to a deep channel running north-south. We began drifting over the sandbar to the east. For bait, we used live eels and some fish called sábalos. The first two fish were large catfish (between 12 and 16 kilos). With powerful runs and tail thrashes, they put up a great fight! As the wind shifted to east-southeast and increased in intensity, we also landed two golden dorado (the largest reached almost 10 kilos) and several smaller catfish. With the wind now gushing to 24 knots and the waves getting bigger, we sailed to a sheltered stream. There we had lunch and even had several bites from fish with strong teeth that devoured all our bait. We finally managed to hook a very nice tararira (it's similar to a wolf fish). If you're interested in learning more about fishing for species in the Río de la Plata, please feel free to write to me and I'll be happy to answer. Keep your lines taut! Captain Mauricio

Merry golden Christmas
Dicembre 24, 2025
Today we went for a short trip. There was a light north/northwest wind. The tide was coming in and there was plenty of sunshine. The water temperature is 27 degrees Celsius. All the bites were on rigs with one or two hooks, fishing in mid-water. We used small live baitfish. The best fishing was in an area of sandbars, with depths of no more than 3 feet. As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to write to me so I can respond as soon as possible. Thank you very much, tight lines, and best wishes! Captain Mauricio

Buenos Aires continues to offer many Gol
Novembre 11, 2025
Today we went on a 6-hour excursion. We left the port around noon. The tide was in its last two hours of incoming flow. We had a light east-northeast wind. We sailed for approximately 45 minutes to a very good fishing spot at this time of year. It's a series of sandbars and channels with a strong current. Many small fish move there, which are the main food source for golden dorado. We began our first drift over a very hard sandbar, in no more than 3 feet of water. There we had the first bites and managed to land our first golden dorado. As we ran out of water for our drift, we moved to different spots. In all of them, we had very good bites from dorado ranging from 3 to 7 kilos. We used size 10 hooks, tied to 80-pound steel leaders. Today, none of our lines had weights, so all the baits worked in mid-water. In the mid-afternoon, we had a delicious snack. There were different kinds of cold cuts, cheeses, and olives. Around 5 PM, with the wind shifting to the southeast, we began our return to port. The fishing trip yielded: 7 dorado caught on the boat, others that managed to escape, and a new experience fishing on the widest river in the world: the Río de la Plata. Captain Mauricio

Lots and lots of golden dorado. In Bueno
Novembre 3, 2025
Today we're going to talk a little about numbers! When we set out, the tide was at 1.80 meters above sea level and going out. We returned with it at 65 cm above sea level. The fishing trip lasted 6 hours. Two fishermen came and managed to land 10 golden dorado on the boat. 4 more got away alongside the boat. Some of the golden dorado were within the average weight for this time of year (2-3 kilos). Others weighed up to 6 kilos and had their stomachs full of fish. We used size 10 hooks with 30 cm steel leaders. We started the morning with 18 live baits. We finished fishing with 4 baits. Which indicates that the percentage of fish hooked was very high. The water temperature is 22 degrees Celsius, and the air temperature started at 20 degrees in the morning and reached 29 degrees by the time we returned. Another beautiful day of fishing, very close to Buenos Aires, on the widest river in the world (Rio de la Plata). See you soon! Captain Mauricio
