As someone who owns a boat and goes fishing quite often I always try to book a fishing trip when travelling abroad and do not consider myself an easy customer due to high expectations. I am so glad to have found and booked a trip with Captain Bob. The experience was top notch from start to finish - the instructions were detailed and precise, his timing was impeccable and we were off in less than 10 minutes of prep time. His knowledge of the lake is downright scientific - he did his temperature measurements, found the right parameters and dropped the lures exactly at the right depth. As a result we had 5 fish on the boat (all released - another wonderful bonus for me) and 4 or 5 additional strikes despite the fact that it was a cold November day and the season was basically coming to an end. Add to that a breathtaking view of the city and you really would be hard pressed to find a better way to spend 5 hours in this majestic area. The next time I’m in Toronto captain Bob will be the first to know!!

My son amd myself had a brilliant day fishing with Bob on his boat on lake Ontario!
it was certainly not the best time in the season to try and catch Salmon and the odds were certainly against us ( but as we had floen iver from the UK we was limited to out options to catch Salmon af ghis time
of the year . But with Bobs Knowledge and boat and equipment he managed to find the fish trying on a few different locations on this massive lake which is only achievable with many years on fishing this waterway! we manged to get 9 hook ups with Salmon on his deep trolled lures and landed 4 x Salmon in total onto the boat (with the best weiging around 10lb in weight)where we took photos of out catch and returned every Salmon back to the lake safe and sound !
my son and inhad never fished for salmon before in the UK or Canada and Bob made our dream come true and we had a successful trip under his captaincy!

Captain Bob is an outstanding professional – he knows the lake inside out, quickly finds the best spots, and makes fishing both exciting and easy to enjoy. Time with him flies by so fast, and you immediately want to come back for another trip. We enjoyed the beautiful views of Toronto from the water, and had a truly unforgettable experience.

Captain Bob was punctual to our 6 AM put-in at Humber Bay Lake Ontario.  Excellent new boat, a very sturdy and safe Hewescraft 20 foot aluminum vessel.  We talked about how it can handle rough weather better than his previous craft.  Our party was 3, just the right amount of room.  4 would be fine, as Bob states as the maximum.

Captain Bob fulfills a unique space for small groups/families who want to charter an intimate 6 hour fishing trip for a decent price.  I searched for others, but they require larger parties and more $.

Our party was lucky to catch 3 fish during a 6 hour charter.  A storm had just passed the day before and the barometer was high, so we had still waters and hot weather.  Captain Bob used his instruments and knowledge to find feeder schools to get us some action.

Captain Bob’s job is to keep you safe on the lake and do his best to catch you fish.  He’s not a showman.  If you are interested in what he’s doing while rigging the lines, just ask and he’ll explain.  He’s a “retired” Eastern European guy, so don’t expect a ton of chit chat.  He’s a very interesting guy who’s focused on his job on the boat.  His head is constantly on a swivel which I appreciated.  While trolling is slow and no bites, talk about his former careers as an electrician or IT guy.  He really made us laugh when he asked our 9 year old if he was bored.  Our kid said yes and Bob said he likes when kids are honest.  No BS.  Fishing can be boring, enjoy the experience.

In all, Bob can’t control if the fish are biting or if the weather is good, but you can trust him to do his best for a great experience.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Best value. I do a lot of fishing off the coast of NYC, NJ and Long Island and enjoyed a great four-hours excursion with Captain Bob on the Salmon Catcher boat. He is extremely skilled on the water and willing to teach about the art of fishing from the basics to more sophisticated topics such as understanding the use of advanced technology. Safety was a priority. The boat is brand new and felt very safe. It was really cool to see how Captain Bob hand crafted the installation of the boat’s essentials, such as the fish finder, sonar screen, electronic trolling engine (very eco friendly), rod holders, and more. We even got to reel in a fish on a slow day. Overall, I enjoy a great morning on the Salmon Catcher recommend to anyone interested in fishing this area.
