Don’t let the small boat fool you. Captain Jose and Pez Koi landed BIG fish. I had requested we target Yellowfin Tuna and Captain Jose embraced my request and said ‘Let’s go get you some Yellowfin Tuna’.

Sure enough Jose found a 1/4 mile wide bait ball and an ongoing feeding frenzy. Hundreds of Spinner Dolphins, diving birds and lots of Yellowfin Tuna made for a chaotic scene. All we had to do was put out a live Blue Runner and wait for a Tuna to hit it like a freight train!

In short order we landed four beautiful Yellowfin, ranging from 45-70 lbs each. My arms were limp noodles by the end of the day!
Not having a fighting chair on Pez Koi made it even more challenging.

I was solo on this trip and needed a break between fish so Jose prepared some fresh Tuna Ceviche while I was recovering. What a fabulous day!

If you need a private charter in Puerto Jimenez, stop searching and book Jose! Jose was responsive since booking and helped us prepare appropriately coming from the US and not knowing what to expect. He was perfectly on time, is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We were looking for rooster fish, and he put us on two giant rooster fish within an hour of getting out to the deeper water. My husband got sea sick and he was able to bring us in to shallower water and still fish for the remainder of the time! Also as a plus the sandwiches/fruit/snacks and sodas/water he brought were tasty. He also has a Bluetooth speaker for you to play music through if you choose. Couldn’t have asked for more in a fishing charter!

Our fishing trip with Pez Koi made the top 3 experiences while on our 2-week visit to Costa Rica for all 3 of us - my husband, 7 year old son, Anthony, & myself. Our guides were incredible & took us to so many great spots to fish! We caught a really nice variety of fishing, even a turtle that we let go. In addition to the fish, we saw humpback whales & lots of birds.The boat was comfortable & the snacks were delicious & fresh! They even let Anthony “drive” the boat back to the pier. Our trip with Jose was fantastic! The fishing was awesome and everything was really easy. we definitely would hire him again!

We did a full day trip offshore, and through the persistence of captain Jose and crew, both my brother and I boated very nice pacific sailfish. The captain extended our 8 hour trip to 10 hours to get the job done. Thank-you Jose!
