My wife and I have been visiting Tahoe on and off for years, but we’d never chartered a fishing trip in Tahoe until this summer. We booked a 4-hour private fishing trip through fishing broker with a Tahoe Sports Fishing in South Lake Tahoe, and it turned out to be one of the best experiences we’ve ever had on the lake.
Initially, we hit a small snag: the boat we’d booked was undergoing repairs due to delays beyond the company’s control. However, the office staff was exceptional—promptly notifying us and rearranging our trip to ensure we weren’t disappointed. Their professionalism and dedication to customer satisfaction were evident from the start, and they assured us we’d have a great time. They weren’t wrong.
Captain Sammy, our guide, made this trip truly unforgettable. His approach was the perfect blend of professionalism, patience, and intuition, tailored to our expectations. We wanted to catch 2–3 fish for a fresh dinner while soaking in Tahoe’s stunning scenery, and Sammy delivered beyond our hopes. He was friendly, engaging, and took the time to share his expertise, making us feel comfortable whether we were fishing or just enjoying the lake’s beauty.
The trip itself was flawless. The boat was well-equipped, the lake was breathtaking, and Sammy’s knowledge of the best fishing spots ensured we met our goal with ease. We caught three beautiful fish, which made for a delicious dinner, and spent the rest of the time enjoying the crystal-clear waters and surrounding mountains. It wasn’t just a fishing trip—it was a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.
This was hands-down one of the best fishing trips we’ve ever taken, and we’re already looking forward to booking with this charter company again. Captain Sammy and deck hand “Spotify” the entire team turned a potential hiccup into a highlight of our Tahoe memories. This was my sons’ (7 & 10 yo) first fishing experience and I could not be more satisfied with the experience! From start to finish, everything was great. Prior to our trip, there was great communication from the office to make sure we were prepared for the trip beforehand. The charter was on time (both departure and arrival), the captain (Zach) and his deckhand (Nate) were polite, knowledgeable, prepared and treated all of us great - really made sure our boys had a great experience. They knew where the fishing was unsuccessful recently and took us straight to where we had the best chance to catch something - the two groups on the boat caught a dozen or so fish combined. Nate cleaned the fish right on-board and Zach gave us the best recommendation - to take our catch to MacDuff’s down the street and have them cook it up for us! Could not recommend both Tahoe Sport Fishing and MacDuff’s Pub enough. The entire day exceeded expectations - it’s a day our family will never forget! Thank you so much to the whole crew!

Captain James and Channing were GREAT! While it was a bit windy and choppy they managed to keep us on the fish. There were 6 of us fishing and we were able to bring in 13 fish. They cleaned them and filleted them for us to take home. I would highly, highly suggest them! Also, please make sure to book the early morning time when the fish are biting. We saw people leaving an afternoon boat the day before and only one person caught one fish - it seems like they just stop biting in the afternoon.

We caught 4 big Lake Trout and an unusually large Brown Trout and we had a blast doing it. We released the Brown and ate the Lake Trout. SO delicious! Thanks Captain Sammy and First Mate Riley!
