We have been lucky this year with only a few cold weeks this winter. I think we avoided any big fish kills and really never even got into any tough winter bite like we usually do in January and february. We seem to be past the cold weather now and the water should be steadily warming. The next few months will have our fish very happy and hungry. There are still some larger schools but they will spread out after the next few months. I would expect the fishing to remain very good through april. Our brackish trips have been very fun now with artificial, but our regular inshore trips are a great option right now for just redfish and trout. Some flounder may show up over the next few months too. March and April can be some of the most fun times of the year to fish because the weather is so nice but all the boat traffic is still somewhat at bay. We are currently in our peak season of fishing. Redfish and trout are both being caught in great numbers and our inahore and brackish trips are hoth producing. We can do artificial fishing right now just as productively as live bait. It really just comes down to the anglers preference.

Currently our water is as hot as it gets for the year. This can make for some tougher fishing. However it will start to cool down in another month. Curently we are running our shark and bull trips first thing in the morning and at sunset. This takes advantage of where the fish feed up the most right befire it gets hot and right afterwards. We are catching some larger 3-6 foor sharks and bull reds in the 30-40 inch range.

The weather is hot and there are lots of boaters and angler out right now. This often makes the fishing a bit tougher for many. However, lately we have still been finding lots of big hungry fish. Especially if you are wishing to thrpw lures and sight fish. Getting out right at sunrise seems to really be the ticket. The first several hours of the morning fishing have been extremely active on the bank and blowing sheimp out of the water. Topwaters lures have also produced a lot of bites while covering water between where we see fish actively working. This bite has mostly been for redfish, however a big torut on the topwater has been a comlon occurence too.

These trips I recommend no more than two peope and typically takes a little bit of prior fishimg experience. However, there is mothing more fun in the inshore scene in my opinion. Picture a cool morning before a hot day, while the other guide boats have not even touched the water. As we make are initial drive out, we see a sunrise over the marsh and dolphins playing in the river. Right as the sun is just shining enough light to make our first casts, we pull into a shallow flat in just a foot of water. Each angler holds and artificial lure as we slowly ease around looking for wakes from actively feeding redfish against the bank. Suddenly we see 20 or 30 huge wakes on the bank and shrimp getting blown oht of the water. That is when you make your first cast and have a long powerful fight with some light 10 pound line. Taking advantage of these cool mornings is great right now, because during the first hour, the redfish are active enough that you can see their wakes as the feed up aggressively from a distance. The key is to cast well ahead of them and let them swim into where your lure is. You can also buy a few furocious bites on a topwater right now during these same conditions. As the days goes on, the redfish become a bit less active. We may still be able to use the sun to our advantage after it heats up by actually seeing one sitting somewhere or perhaps switch to a bit of structure fishing woth the same lures. Although we may not always, get as many bites as live bait trips doing this, the bites you do get are far more rewarding.
