You'll be casting lines from a 26' Hewescraft Alaskan Sportfishing boat with capacity for 6 passengers of the same group, Otherwise the Salt Shaker only books 5 people of separate bookings. It comes with downriggers, all the essentials. There's a toilet (private porta potty) on board for your convenience.

You'll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. It's customary (but not required) to tip the Crew 10–20% to show your appreciation.

Before coming aboard, you may need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them such as salmon and halibut, so make sure you know what to expect. There is also an ocean endorsement that is new for 2026 season that is required to fish for fish species other than salmon.

A few items to bring include bottled water, sunblock (non-spray), and sunglasses. If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
