We were all beginners except for one. It was a family fishing outing. We learned a lot about fishing season rules and signs to look for where fish may be biting. Captain Gus and first mate Dave knew where to troll and proper depths for lines. They really wanted to us each to have the opportunity to reel in a fish and we all got to take some freshly filleted Rock Fish home. It was delicious. Captain Gus even honored our request to take us out to the Chesapeake so we could enjoy the sunset before returning to the marina. It was a very good experience. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but what I saw was a very clean vessel, an experienced captain and attentive first mate who were very nice and love what they do.

Great afternoon fishing with Capt Gus and Chuck
Saturday Evening Special on August 2, 2025 • 6 adults
This was our first charter experience fishing in Maryland and decided to do a scouting trip with Capt Gus. My family, friend and I had a great time on the water hunting rockfish and doing some bottom fishing. The rockfish were elusive and not biting at all, and while Capt Gus was apologetic for not landing any, his energy chasing them was awesome. We landed some catfish and he put us on the croaker and white perch.
I will be scheduling another trip very soon and I highly recommend Capt Gus and the Ditch Hag for your fishing outings.

what a perfect day! we booked a trip to celebrate my son's 22nd birthday and we had a blast! these guys worked hard to make sure our experience was memorable! they were super knowledgeable and taught us a lot about Rock fishing! there's nothing better than bringing home fish fresh caught! 100% would go with these guys again!

We went out on a family fishing trip and had a great time! Everyone caught a fish even the kids. We definitely recommend Captain Gus, he kept moving around to different locations. His mate was a great help as well always making sure everyone was in the right spot to avoid our rods from being tangled. We will only book with captain Gus from now on.

Capt Gus and his mate, Chuck, were great. Everything was set up and ready to go. We spent a couple hours going after rock fish. The fish weren't overly cooperative, but we still wrangled a few. Then relocated to go for perch before calling it a day. Great trip overall.
