Usually when you elect to go with one of the cheapest options you get what you pay for. This was not the case, before I even stepped foot on the boat the captain messaged me to prepare me, sent me photos of the previous days catch, and gave me perfect directions to get to the marina. I got there 30 minutes early and instead of just waiting for 12:30 to come around the captain said he was ready to go, giving me an extra 30 minutes of fishibg time. The boat was nice and the crew was also very freindly. Withen the first 5 minutes of fishing we already had cuaght a snook, after 10 minutes we had 3 snook and a red snapper! we continued to the rivers where we caught no less than 20 peacock bass (some of which were really nice size), some tiger fish, and some oscars. The crew worked the entire day to make sure that I was having fun and catching fish. Could truly not recommend Panama Fishing Trip more, I will for sure be back!

Capt Rene is top-notch! I canβt recommend taking a fishing trip with Capt Rene enough!!! Extremely nice man, bi-lingual English & Spanish and he genuinely wants to make sure you have a great time!
Everything from the boat to the fishing tackle worked perfectly. Capt Rene was on top of every need and kept live bait on my hook constantly. We were catching fish within 15 mins of reaching the fishing spot! He has a remote controlled trolling motor which made it easy to stay right where we needed to be. I literally lost track of how many fish I caught. Small, medium and large peacock bass π

The Best Lake Gatun Trip
4 Hour Trip β Gatun Lake on April 25, 2025 β’ 2 adults
I booked a 4hr Lake Gatun trip with Rene at Fishing Bookers. As soon as I booked it (45 days in advance), Capt Rene reached out through the app to answer questions and to find out what type of fishing experience I wanted. I opted for a trip focusing on peacock bass, snook, and tilapia. I also wanted to see the monkeys that populate some of the small lake islands. I needed transportation from Panama City to the boat launch in Gamboa. He provided assurance that this would be a great trip. Today (4/25), he arrived early for pickup and got to the boat with no problems.
The ride out to the fishing spots was very scenic and he gave some quick tips on fishing with his lures and live bait. He knows what heβs doing. We caught at least 15 peacock bass and 4 snook.
We then went to the small islands where we saw three types of monkeys up close (howlers, tamarins, and capuchins). The capuchins even got on the boat to get a late breakfast of peanuts that we had on hand.
The trip back was easy. We arrived back at our Panama City hotel at 10:45a with the whole day ahead of us. I could not provide a stronger recommendation to use Capt Rene.
